Why Volunteer?

TJ Youth Wrestling runs on volunteers. Whether you can coach, run the scoring table, or help set up mats, there is a role for everyone.

Volunteer Roles

Coach

Lead and instruct wrestlers at practice; teach technique, safety, and sportsmanship.

Assistant Coach

Support the head coach at practices and meets; help run drills and work with wrestlers.

Board Member

Help guide the program's operations, events, and long-term planning.

Event / Tournament Volunteer

Help run home meets and the Thomas Jefferson Duals — scoring table, hospitality, setup and teardown.

Mat Crew

Help roll out, tape, and clean mats before and after practices and events.

Clearance Requirements

All adults who volunteer with youth organizations must obtain the following clearances before they can begin.

PA State Police Criminal Background Check

Free for volunteers. Results are typically instant.

Apply at epatch.pa.gov

PA Child Abuse History Clearance

Free for volunteers. Processing takes 2-3 weeks.

Apply at compass.state.pa.us

Mandated Reporter Training

Free online course, takes approximately 3 hours. Certificate valid for 5 years.
